Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu is a man of high repute, probity, unassuming and result oriented. He is a selfless leader who attained greatness by lifting others to greatness. As observed by Henry Ward Beecher, the American social reformer who was known for his support of the abolition of slavery, “greatness lies, not in being strong, but in the right using of strength; and strength is not used rightly when it serves only to carry a man above his fellows for his own solitary glory. He is the greatest whose strength carries up the most hearts by the attraction of his own.” Absolutely, Abdul Hamed belongs to class of great men.
He was born on the 29th of April, 1970 into a God-fearing family. He had his education at Abdul Aziz Atta Memorial College, Okene, where his belief in uprightness was nurtured. Hon. Salawu can be described as the masses man and an ardent person for positive changes. He joined grassroots politics with a remarkable landmark participation which gives him credibility that inspired the community.
Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu used his position in the community in propagating for cleaner environment and healthy living with his pacific attribute that attracted more people closer and enhances his relationship within the Community, hence, he was left with little or no option than to join the Community Development Association. Having impeccable character, an upright person, a political juggernaut who contributed immensely to the development of his community, he represented and fought for justice at all times. Being a frontrunner and strong member of defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD), Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu believes in all for one and one for all system which stands him out among his peers.
With the emergence of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), he did not relent in his active participation of moving the party forward. Upon his tutelage under Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Hon. Salawu was able to bring in cohesion within the community whereby they embraced the positive change that the party witnessed during the coalition and transformation of ACN to All Progressives Congress (APC).
In the same vein, Hon. Salawu ensured that his community enjoyed dividends of democracy through which confidence of the party was strongly affirmed and the party always enjoy massive support during any election.
The much confidence and trust bestowed on him and his uprightness in all things earned him a nickname “DULLAR ODOMODE OLOWO ALANU” meaning “Dullar from his name Abdulahi, the youngest merciful Millionaire” by both young and old.
His doggedness in grassroots politics gave him another opportunity to serve his people as he was elected as the Chairman of Somolu Local Government on the 25th of July, 2017. He believes in an all-inclusive Government at the grassroots. In the light of this, he appointed youths to position of responsibilities in Somolu LGA, to serve the people with him. This has earned him so many accolades and praises from the people in his area and beyond.
Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, a politician, administrator, achiever per excellence and man of many parts has won many awards to his credit, and he is not resting on his oars having poised to move Somolu Local Government to the apogee.
He loves football, a game that bounds everybody with love irrespective of color, ethnic and race and also doing humanitarian work at all times wherever he is. Hon. A. Salawu is a practicing Muslim and happily married to Mrs. Lesslie Florence Salawu with promising children.
The achievement of Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu in his first tenure as Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government is what earned him a resounding victory at the polls that gave him an opportunity to serve the good people of Somolu for another term. Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu on monthly basis makes provision of welfare package for over one thousand, two hundred senior citizens of the community totaling about four thousand, eight hundred elderly men and women who have enjoyed his benevolence in the last four months. This initiative of his inspired the Lagos State Governor mandating all the 57 LGA/LCDAs chairmen to commence monthly elderly welfare package in their respective Local Governments.
He did not stop at that but on daily basis; empower people within the Local Government and encourages the youth in entrepreneurial aspect of life. Hon. Dullar understands human capacity building as a major component towards achieving poverty eradication, promote economic growth and sustainable development and in line with this poverty alleviation and capacity building programmes were enlarged.
